What: Egg Baby Shenanigans

When: Backdated to the egg baby event.

It had hardly been a day into classes in the afterlife before Mami had a child dropped in her lap. She arrived to class, and the teacher seemed to think she belonged there the entire time. Taking her seat in the front row, things had quickly become familiar for Mami. There were nice classmates, and the work was something she understood. She actually was able to get into the lesson and forget about all the things troubling her in death.

At the end of classes though, she was surprised to find her name paired up with another student's for an assignment she had no warning of. She had heard of such things before, but she had never taken care of an egg or anything else, and more difficult, she didn't even know who her partner was.

When the bell rang, Mami found herself with an egg on her desk, looking at it with a smile. It was to be her baby for a short time, and she quickly decided to make sure she got a good grade on the assignment. She just had to find the girl she was assigned to, surely she must be in the class somewhere..

Luck was with Mami, for Yuuko had never been one to rush in leaving from classes. Having very little concept of time and having observed classes invisibly for decades did that to you. The assignment had Yuuko curious, if only because she'd never seen that sort of thing taught in the school she knew so well, and because the teacher and other NPCs acknowledged her existence. She was no longer invisible.

The assignment seemed potentially fun.

So it was that most of the NPCs had left the room fairly quickly, leaving Yuuko among the few remaining students at their desks. She was leaning her elbows on the desktop, chin in hands, and eyes closed with a pleased smile on her face. After a moment, it occurred to her. The partner she was assigned! She paused, smile slipping off her face as she looked around at the mostly empty room. She'd got so caught up in her musing she hadn't paid attention to the fact that most of the students had left. Her gaze flicked curiously from student to student. Who was this Mami Tomoe, and was she still around?

"Ah..." she trailed off, wondering which one to address.

Mami was just holding onto the egg when she realized that the girl who had been assigned to her was still sitting there, looking around. Or, at least she had to guess that she was her partner, seeing how most everyone else was pairing up already. And Mami wasn't one afraid to talk to others, especially when it seemed like it could work out that they could be friends.

"Excuse me, are you Kanoe-san?" Mami held up the egg gently in both hands to her, as if she might recognize her own 'child'. "I think we were assigned to be partners together."

Yuuko promptly smiled at the girl who approached her. "Yes, that's my name. I suppose this makes you Tomoe-san?" she asked, despite the confirmation probably not being necessary. She folded her hands together.

"I am. It's nice to meet you." Mami gently placed the egg down in front of her partner, away from the edge, so she could get to know her child a little better.

"I'm really new here, and I'm just starting to figure things out, but I'll make sure I put my very best effort into this assignment." As if she wasn't going to try her hardest on every assignment she gets. Mami was just that good of a student.

"Do you think we should name it?" She looked down at the egg, wondering if it was a boy or a girl.
