WHAT: Housing shenanigans.

WARNINGS: Possible spoilers for The Rebellion Story, cursing, and violence. If anything else comes up, tell me and I'll update.

[ Homura, having spoken to Ai about the housing problem decided to procure a house. She didn't want to waste time, so she had checked it out beforehand and then sent a message to each of them (sans Sayaka, since she had become an NPC) telling them about it. Of course, her message to Madoka came with an added: "Bring Miki Sayaka with you, if you can." If only because she was being careful and it would be bad for everyone if they had to worry about the girl because of her own mistakes.

But it's been a few days since then, and Homura's barely getting any sleep. Of course she's been staying outside of the house, keeping watch. She can't be certain that this 'firewall' that Ai spoke about was going to work 100%; that kind of certainty didn't exist anywhere, and she knew that all too well from experience.

There may be bags under her eyes, but it's not like she hasn't taken short naps. But House I is being protected very closely and she's not exactly certain if the others are okay with her taking in charge. It's a problem, but she doesn't mind discussing it with the others. Or the fact that there might be other things going on inside of the house. ]

[ Mami is cooking. What else can she do to try and calm herself down. She just barely escaped with Kyouko a short time ago from the dorms, she lost Sayaka, and now they are all unsure of what comes next. So what else can Mami do, other than start to bake and hope her problems can be pushed down further?

Usually she has a smile on when she cooks, but right now, she's looking as melancholy as you could expect, stirring some dough in a steel bowl, with a faraway stare in her eyes. ]

[Sayaka was pulled from the dormitory in time to not be stuck there but she's not exactly sure why she was pulled into this housing arrangement. It was all so... weird. Madoka had brought her there. She sees Mami in the kitchen but she doesn't go to her. At least it's not time for class at the moment so she's not encouraging everyone to leave the house.

But she is sitting out of everyone's way for now. Which would be a bit concerning if she wasn't NPC'd.]

[Kyouko, with her feet up and her hands behind her head, is hanging out on the couch somewhat near Sayaka, but far enough away to represent the awkwardness she feels about being anywhere in the vicinity. She's not even eating anything, trying her best to be polite and save room for whatever Mami is whipping up.

As the silence drags on, Kyouko shifts her feet and starts tapping her heel. Ugh, this isn't fun. She would go join Mami in the kitchen, but she doesn't feel like hovering, and she obviously wouldn't be much help. When it comes to de-NPCing Sayaka, she feels equally worthless; according to Inaba's text, she would have to quote lines from Sayaka's life — and hell of a lot of good that'll do, since Sayaka didn't remember any of the time they spent together even before she became an NPC.

So it's up to Madoka, essentially. At least Kyouko is there for moral support.

Tap tap tap.]

[ Awkward is one way to put it. The past weeks seriously have put a damper even on Madoka's cheer. It's like everyone's growing apart because of everything that's happening - not to mention the ever-present threat that the shadows pose in maybe even claiming another one of them at any moment to join them as an NPC - and she doesn't like one bit of it. She wants to change Sayaka back, but she's not confident of her own ability in it. She doesn't know what to think about Homura anymore after everything the other girl told her. She doesn't know how to help Mami feel better even if she does worry about the older girl a lot of the time. And Kyouko-- well, if anything, Kyouko is the least awkward thing here. But there's still the fear she might disappoint the other girl if she can't save Sayaka in the end.

It's a lot of worries, a lot of pressure. Madoka's grown a little more quiet.

But she knows she can't be quiet right now. To start getting a better mood in the house again, she has to be the one to change it. So she approaches the blue-haired girl in the room, trying so very hard to smile even if she doesn't feel happy at all. ]

Um, Sayaka-chan.. do you have a moment?

I guess I do. What is it?

[Sayaka's currently unable to judge the atmosphere right now. All she knows that is this isn't the dorms and who in the world is paying for them to live in a house? At least it's not class time. She gives a confused nod as she gets up.]

[ Hearing Madoka and Sayaka talking, Mami sticks her head out of the kitchen, those long curls coming into view around the corner. ]

Saku-Kyouko...can you help me in the kitchen for a minute? [ She wants to help Madoka however, she can, and figures having the redhead out of her hair for the moment will make it easier for her to help Sayaka. Right now, Mami's trying to cook Sayaka's favorite dessert, to try to bring her friend back to her senses the only way she knows how. ]

[Dense as she can be, Kyouko is already off the couch before Mami comes peeking in. She gives Madoka a light cuff on the shoulder before heading into the kitchen. Again, she wishes there was more she could do… but it's for the best that she leave the two of them alone.

At least the smells of Mami's cooking manage to perk her up some. Kyouko stands near the corner of the room and holds her hands behind her head, lacing her fingers.]

You actually got something for me to do?

[ Madoka glances at both Mami as the older girl pokes her head out of the kitchen for a brief moment and then Kyouko as the girl leaves -- and then she's alone with Sayaka. And incredibly nervous, because despite what Homura said and despite Kyouko and Mami's kindness in giving her the space to do this, she still doesn't believe she's capable of bringing Sayaka back.

But she wants to do it. She doesn't want to have to miss her best friend any longer. ]

You said before you only remembered me from class, right..? But aren't there other things you can remember as well if you think really, really deeply?

[Sayaka doesn't really stop Kyouko from leaving and she doesn't get that it means that she's alone with Madoka. She raises an eyebrow.] That's what I said.

[She thinks a minute but there's nothing there.] I don't really know what you're talking about, Kaname-san.

[ With Kyouko in the kitchen, Mami can only trust in Madoka to be able to turn back her best friend. Mami wishes she could do it herself, but she knows that her bond with Sayaka is nothing compared to Madoka's...which is a painful thing to think about. But she still has Kyouko. ]

No, I just wanted to give the two of them some space. But if you're already here, you can try this and see how you like it.

[ Mami opens a pot she has on the stove, where she's started a soup, tomato with vegetables. She fills a spoon with the broth and blows on it, before holding it out for her friend. ]

Say 'ahh'. [ As much as she tries to ignore it, it's probably clear to Kyouko that Mami is upset and worried about Sayaka's state still. ]

[In her gut Kyouko knows that Mami is still worried about Sayaka. They all are. ~~Except probably Homura.~~ Still, Kyouko is much more optimistic than she was before. There's proof now that NPCs can be turned back to normal, and if anyone can pull it off, it's Madoka.

Kyouko eyes Mami, then she eyes the spoon. This feels silly to her, but she decides not to make a fuss over it. Besides, it probably is going to be tasty.]

Ah.

[She glances casually up and away as she opens her mouth.]

[ While Mami and Kyouko are ~~having UST~~ busy in the kitchen, Madoka can just focus on Sayaka. She knows the girl doesn't remember everything from back home entirely - she apparently died at a much earlier point than Madoka remembers - but if she did become a magical girl, then there have to be at least a few things she can make Sayaka remember.

She carefully takes the other girl's hands in her own, her voice softening. ]

Sayaka-chan has always been my strong and reliable friend.. Whenever I was in trouble, you always helped me out. Don't you remember the time someone tried to take some of my lunch and you almost hit them before the teacher stepped in during lunch break..?

[ She swallows before she continues, her voice shaking a little at the thought of maybe never getting to see that side of her best friend again. ]

I was always relying on you, Sayaka-chan..

[There's clear confusion at that. Why was this girl holding her hands like this? Why did it look like she was so hurt? There's... she doesn't know. She honestly doesn't.]

Look, I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about.

[This feels like some weird kind of confession. That memory wasn't strong enough of one to break through. ~~Reset the timeline.~~ Try again?]

[ Mami can still barely hear Madoka and Sayaka speaking, and she's afraid of listening too much. She's just trying to focus on Kyouko, which isn't that difficult, seeing how the other girl has opened her mouth like that. Airplane coming in for a landing, train coming into the station, and all that, Mami feeds Kyouko the cooled spoonful of soup. ]

So, how do you think it tastes?

[ She waits for Kyouko to finish it and takes the spoon back, with a small smile. ]

...Have you decided what you'll say to Miki-san if she returns to normal?

[Choo choo. Kyouko licks her lips once she's finished, then gives Mami a nod.]

Pretty damn good. But cake's more my specialty, y'know.

[Her 'specialty' in the sense that she would probably eat nothing else if she could get away with it. Mami's question gives her pause, though. She doesn't want to be flippant with her answer.]

I don't have like a speech or anything. I'm just gonna be honest. Besides, it'd probably be better for me to give her some space at first.

[ Does she have to pull out the big guns. Because there's something she figures would work, but she didn't want to bring it up exactly because it's so painful, but.. then again, maybe painful is the only thing that can shock Sayaka back into being normal. ]

Sayaka-chan, you don't remember anything..? Not even why you became a magical girl? You wanted to help him play the violin, right-- you don't even remember that much..?

[ The other girl had seemed so passionate and driven about it that Madoka can't even imagine a Sayaka who forgot about all of that. ]

[At first it doesn't seem to work. She stands up, in fact, clearly tired of this conversation.]

Magical girl? I'm not--

[She stops mid-sentence. As if she was about to remember something. She doesn't quite say something because, well. There's a couple of shadows that are rapidly appearing. It seems that did work. Though, someone probably should deal with those shadows.]

You can't only eat cake, K-Kyouko-chan. You have to have a balanced diet or you'll gain weight.

[ It feels strange calling her by her first name, but Kyouko had asked her to. Just don't be surprised when her voice gets a little quiet when she says it. Though Kyouko's eating habits might not be the most important thing at the moment.

Mami hadn't heard that trying to bring someone back would cause Shadows to appear, no one had mentioned that to her. But she is quickly made aware of them as soon as they appear, dropping that spoon to the floor, and rushing to the living room. She has no guns on her, so she has to find something, and fast, opting for a fireplace poker, long and metal with a barbed tip. ]

We'll take care of these, Kaname-san, keep going!

[ Homura's been listening to the conversation from the outside; it wasn't as if she couldn't hear it, with the door slightly open. She's been listening this whole time, but once she hears the sound of shadows approaching, she decides to rush, in already transformed as she takes out several of her guns.

She's armed and she's dangerous. ]

I'll help out as well, if you don't mind.

[ She'll at least take out the nearest shadow with her pistol first, at least. ]

[The Shadows catch Kyouko off guard, as well — an interesting little detail someone forgot to mention (or, more likely, a detail she'd forgotten). In hindsight, it might've been smarter for Madoka and Sayaka to chat outside, since a living room doesn't make for the best battle zone.

Oh well! Kyouko grabs a frying pan from the kitchen and follows Mami into the fray, then takes a hard whack at the closest Shadow.]

I'm gettin' real tired of these things. Let's take 'em out!

[ The moment the shadows appear, Madoka lets out a shriek. She didn't imagine it would happen either, so she's completely taken off guard, and it's only by luck that the shadows don't immediately get to her as well. But then the other girls rush in and surely they must be able to deal with this (surely, all three of them have always been amazing when it comes to this sort of thing, maybe even without their powers now) so she knows that all she can do is take care of Sayaka.

So Madoka lunges forward to grab her friend's arm, clinging to it. ]

S-- Sayaka-chan, don't let them get to you again.. and everyone else, p.. please help, I'm sorry..!

[Sayaka doesn't move away or even react. At least she's not struggling but she's not going to be any help in this fight.]

...Just stay out of our way.

[ Mami is harsh in tone when it comes to Homura butting in. She knows now that she isn't helping to save Sayaka, she's helping because she can't bare to let anything happen to Madoka. If things truly start to go south, Mami knows that Homura would just as likely shoot Sayaka to end it. And Mami will not let that happen.

With the fire poker in hand she swings it like a baseball bat at the nearest Shadow, working with Kyouko to take it down. Together they are a good team, but their offensive power is no where near Homura's. Still, they have to protect Sayaka. ]

Miki-san! Please, you have to remember us!

I have no intention in harming anyone in this room.

[ She says this with no ill intentions in mind as she returns her gun back into her shield, immediately taking out another weapon that's more close range, a golf club. She's used it before, so she has enough experience when it comes down to it.

With several whacks, she'll manage to hit the shadows, knowing that using guns in this situation might make things worse. Besides, she needs to save up ammunition. ]

[Kyouko isn't paying enough attention to Homura to immediately notice she's put the gun away, but it's probably a good call for her not to blast up the living room. Melee weapons should do the trick, especially for Kyouko, since she's clobbered a bunch of these things already with whatever happens to be around.

She dispatches the first with Mami's help, then leaps in front of another, blocking its path to Sayaka and Madoka. She knocks it back with a powerful swing that almost sends her into a pirouette. Once she's regained her balance, she gives the two girls a quick backward glance.]

They probably showed up 'cause what you said was working, Madoka! And we're definitely not gonna give Sayaka up to these weak-ass things. I won't let 'em anywhere near you!

[And so, to prove her point, Kyouko plants her feet and proceeds to bludgeon any Shadows that get within arm's reach.]

[ Her heart calms a lot. Her friends are right here, they're fighting - for both her and Sayaka - and Madoka knows how strong they are, that they won't give up and won't let the shadows get to them as well.

She can trust them completely. So even though it's still a little scary, she knows she has to do what she's supposed to do here, and her hold on Sayaka tightens a little. The least she can do is try to keep her out of the remaining shadows' way.. ]

.. Sayaka-chan, look.. everyone's fighting for us. All our friends are there protecting us, so please come back to us..
