21st: Seems like a pretty normal day at school, nothing really too abnormal about it, but if you just so happen to stop by the bathrooms for a bathroom break, you’ll realize that the lights are out and there’s moaning coming from inside! What could it be—is there a ghost in the afterlife?! Is that even possible?! Who knows! Maybe the fuse just popped.  If you dare go in to investigate and open up a stall, the moaning will stop, but then something will start banging on the other stalls!  But going in in the first place may not be smart since the door will lock behind you.

22nd: Some people here may have noticed that the restaurant in town has been on a bit of an asparagus kick lately. Maybe someone in there just really likes it, but whatever the reason, they’re going to promote the beloved vegetable more with an asparagus eating contest! So tonight, if you step on in, why don’t you join in the fun and see how durable and big your tummy is and eat as much asparagus as you can. At least it’ll all be free, no food ticket needed here!

23rd: It's that time of the year and clubs are putting up posters and opening their doors after school to recruit some new members. All throughout the day, teachers and councilors will be encouraging students to go and sit in on clubs and try to join some. So go ahead, look around, peak into a room or two! You might find something you like.

24th: If you just so happen to be walking past the garden and greenhouse today during break time, you might notice that the poor little flowers look a little dry and thirsty. Looks like one of the students forgot to water them yesterday. Could there possibly be a kind soul who'd stop by to give them some water?

25th: GLITCH ALERT! Being short has its advantages, but it’s not exactly advantageous when you’re just a few centimeters tall. Which you just may find yourself today. Wherever you are, you’re suddenly the size of a pebble and everything around you is ginormous. Haven’t hit a glitch like this in a while have you? Well, let’s hope you don’t run into a giant cockroach, talk about scary.

[ The stupid stem seems big to her though, and it's been awful to try to pull herself up onto it because the surface seems smooth. ]

I can hold onto someone's ankles with two people hanging onto me for long enough that the two people can climb up, I think I would've been alright.

[ Her tone was dry as she finally managed to get mostly up, though she's holding onto the stem firmly still, even if she's on the top. ]

That's impressive, but I meant more about the smoothness of the surface a person's trying to keep a grip on. These stems are glorified giant poles with few bumps or crooks.

[looking forward again, he presses down on the flower and springs onto another flower with a careful landing.]

[ She couldn't even argue with that as she looks up at him from her position on her stem. ]

You'd have better luck finding mushrooms around here, and somehow I doubt they'd do anything.

[poison wasn't an issue, as it'd only be a temporary discomfort at most.]

[ Yuri's going to actually get up with her arms spread for balance now. ]

If it's a glitch we just have to wait it out, right?

Obviously, though I can't say I'm thrilled about how long the wait could be.

In the meantime, let's try to think of something we'd never be able to do while our normal sizes.

If we can use it to transport ourselves to a safer location, flying will take a lot less time than walking while this size, and lady bugs only eat aphids so we're safe.

[ Also riding a lady bug sounds like fun. ]

It wouldn't be an issue with me, but what's to say a bug could support a mass your size while flying around?

[Perhaps some could, given how small the two of them are right now, but that definitely won't be the case for all.]

Ants can lift fifty times their weight, can't they? Lady bugs probably can too, but they aren't as annoying as ants.

Strength varies widely among insect and beetle species. These aren't ants, or rhinoceros beetles or dung beetles.

[He gives a dismissive handwave]

And if you're going to ride it rather than cling to one of its legs, there's the issue of slipping off its opened shell and getting in the way of its wings.

So you're enough of a bug expert to know it's impossible without even trying?

You're the one who wants to try. Just don't complain if it turns out you misjudged.

I'd never complain, I'd pretend it never happened and keep the failure buried in my heart.
