28th: Today seems as though it’s a normal day, right? Wake up, take a shower, walk outside to head to class and… the NPCs aren’t moving. Stopped mid-step they’re completely frozen all over the school grounds. Some may be in class already and frozen at their desks, others might’ve been frozen as they were walking to or around the school. Maybe you were outside just inside to see them come to a sudden halt. After an hour, they’ll return to normal and continue on as though nothing happened.

29th: The school festival is a month away and it’s time to start planning for it! Classes will get a free period to plan for it today and clubs will need to get together and talk about setting up special activities for the students if they want to participate. GET HYPED.

30th: Do you hear that? Outside of your dorm—in the hallway! It sounds like pitter patter of little feet running up and down the halls… a bunch of them too, and there’s even some little barks here and there. Open your door and SUDDENLY LITTLE SHIBA INU AND GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPIES RUNNING ALL ABOUT. Don’t deny them love, they’re ever so playful and fluffy.

31st: It’s so close to your day off—but the teachers decided they’re going to end this week with a math test. Ew, right? Hope you studied or this is going to suck.

1st: Even in the afterlife your uniform and clothes get a bit dirty from time to time, and it’d be pretty gross if you didn’t wash your underwear so go on, wash your clothes! Or… don’t. The washer’s broken—actually waters starting to spill out of it!!! Now you’re standing in a puddle, oops.

As always, remember there are basketball, kendo, drama and baseball clubs now so practices can be set up whenever you want! And if you want to do something outside of what we've provided, feel free to do so.

[ Her precious pencil... shame on you, Mary, you made Madoka cry. Except not really, she just looks really shocked at the broken pencil for a moment, she didn't expect that to happen.. ]

M-maybe we should find you some crayons instead, Mary-chan. It might be easier.. [ Awkwardly scratching behind her ear. ] And then you could draw on the ground too, so you could decorate the school that way..! [ TRYING SO HARD TO THINK OPTIMISTICALLY.. ]

[CRY MORE MADOKA. Let that be a lesson to you, always carry a pencil sharpener with you in case someone comes along and ruins all your pencils.]

Maybe! [Mary just hands the pencil and notebook back, enjoy your half finished drawing Madoka.] Crayons can draw on lots of different things, I know. I could colour in the walls and floors and draw lots of pictures everywhere! But I found something else that's fun to draw with too...

[Looking down, Mary briefly looks through one of her pockets and pulls out a red marker pen. Ta-da!]

It's not a crayon, but I think you can draw on even more stuff using this.

[ Holds her notebook and her precious pencil which is snapped in two now..! Shattered like most of Madoka's hopes and dreams, really. But she's too nice to say anything about it, so she just nods a little at the younger girl, although she looks a little sheepish.. ]

You should be careful with it though! If you draw with that, it might never disappear..

I'll be careful. [Chill Madoka. It's fiiine.] I wanna try drawing something with it that will last forever and ever! If I draw with it for too long though then it starts making this really weird smell. Here!

[Mary uncaps the pen and starts waving it around in front of Madoka's face. Ahh, breath in the sweet smell of marker pen solvents! ... So about that 'being careful' thing. Yeaaah.]

[ She almost got a marker right onto her face, thank you, Mary.. it's only due to her instinctive hop backwards that it doesn't color all of her face too. ]

.. You're right, it does smell pretty weird.. but you shouldn't smell it too much though, that's bad for you!

[No problem, Madoka! She gives Madoka a curious look before turning back to the pen.]

Is it? It smells weird, but it's not a bad sort of weird...? I'm not sure what it is.

I'm not sure either, but mama always told me that I shouldn't go ahead and smell them.. [ WOW MARY, DID YOUR PARENTS NEVER TEACH YOU MANNERS. (h.. ah.. a...) ]

So it's probably better to not do it, right?

Oh, well if your mom said so... [Gosh fine. She pops the cap back on the pen and holds the marker up to her chest with both hands.]

Did your mom always used give you advice like that?

Of course, that's what mothers are for! .. I think so, at least. [ Quickly adding that since it's almost like it isn't that normal to Mary and she doesn't want to hurt the other girl's feelings.. ]

Mama's really amazing and old and smart, so she teaches me about a lot of things.

[crayoned]

Wow, your mom- mama really sounds like something. Giving advice and things like that really sounds like something a mother should do. [Or so she imagines anyway, mother are meant to be kind and supportive and all that.] I bet you had a lot of fun with your mama while you were still alive.

Hmm, I did. We promised we were going to do a lot more things in the future too..

[ Except now she'll never be able to live up to those things. It makes her more than a little sad, mostly since she feels so guilty -- she would never come back home to her mother... So she can't help but sniff a little bit. ]

[Madoka's slight change in mood is completely lost on Mary, leading her to carry on and ask another question.]

... What sort of things, fun stuff?

E.. ehehe, something like that..

[ Like she can bring herself to say the exact stuff. She already has to bite her lip now to make sure she won't cry, she knows her mother wouldn't have wanted her to... ]

Mama.. always really, really l-liked fun things..

Me too, I wonder if your mama and me would have liked the same sorts of-- Hmm?

[Now she's noticing it. Isn't talking about fun stuff and your parents meant to make you feel happy? This is nothing like when she talked about this sort of thing with Ib...]

Don't be sad, Madoka. It's a good thing that you got to do fun things with your mama!

I-I know, but.. we were still going to do so many things, b-but because of me we won't anymore..! I bet mama's so sad and it's all my fault..

[ One of her hands moves up to rub at her eye, trying to prevent the tears in it from falling. ]

[Hrmm. The books she read on making friends never covered what to do when one of your friends starts to cry. Telling her not to be sad didn't seem to work. What should she do...?]

It's... Not your fault? How could it be your fault?

[It's very clear that Mary isn't sure what she should be doing right now. In fact, she doesn't even know what isn't Madoka's fault, her dying perhaps? She's trying to understand why Madoka is upset, but all she can manage to do is stare at the other girl... Does this make her a bad friend now? For letting Madoka get upset like this?]

[ Don't worry, Mary. Madoka is just a very, very special case who takes everything personally upon her.. Madoka almost made a contract for your sins, you know. ]

That's not your fault though... Whoever killed you, it's their fault.

[All of their fault, no one else's, especially not Madoka's... Unless Madoka was killed by a something and not a someone, in which case it's the something's fault!]

But.. if I had been a little more careful [ or a little quicker with making her wish, but she doesn't say that one out loud since it's a secret ] then maybe I wouldn't have died, right..? Something like that would make it all my fault.

Um, well... It's still not your fault.

[Perhaps she could have been more careful herself and done things differently back in the gallery. Then maybe things wouldn't have turned out the way they did... But no, no, it's still definitely not her fault that she died. She did nothing that would make her death her fault, at least in her eyes anyway. All she wanted was to go outside...

She wants off this topic of conversation now. Thinking about the gallery, what her first friends did and what happened is something she needn't worry about now that she's in the afterlife. After some quiet mumbling and murmuring, Mary speaks up.]

Hey Madoka, do you remember that club that we were going to make together?

[ At least Madoka is too rude to go on about a subject when someone else is clearly trying to move on, so in that sense Mary's at least doing a good thing..? She tries to put everything out of her mind as she listens to the girl, giving her a tiny nod. ]

Of course I do. Why are you bringing it up now, Mary-chan..?

[She's bringing it up now because it makes the smoothest, most perfect segue from a topic she wanted to avoid thinking about in a completely inconspicuous way-]

Oh good! I was trying to think up a name for it, but it's really hard thinking up a good name for a club that's about having fun together with lots of people. [She already considered calling it the 'fun club', but even Mary thought that a name like that wasn't the most creative of names.] So I wanted to see if you had any ideas.

[ Mary!! At least Madoka totally goes along with it.. ]

Oh, a name..? [ She hums for a moment. Isn't it too much responsibility for her to think it up? Then again, she doesn't want to force it onto the other girl either.. ] Um, well, wouldn't that depend on the kind of image you want to show off? Like.. you could go for something cute, or something formal, or something else entirely.

Oh! [You had her at 'something cute'.] Something cute, it has to be something like that. Everyone likes cute things, or most people do anyway. A cute name would get us lots of club members!
