SUMMARY: Winter fun all around

12th: Look Dave, IT'S SNOWINGGGGGGGGG!!! Students and other NPCs are beginning to hang Christmas lights all around the town and school too. Everything looks pretty at night, even the gardens in the town and school.

13th: Today in home economics class: its time to start baking some homemade cookies and making peppermint hot chocolate.

14th: Kendo club starts today in the dojo!! Some posters have been hung up around the school for a while. Anyone want to go in and try it out or maybe even join??

15th: Hey--look up! Yeah, it's exactly what you see. Mistletoe has been put up under almost every doorway! What now.

16th: A lot of the NPCs are heading up to the mountains today. Why? For skiing and snowboarding of course! Skis, snowboards and even sleds are in the gym's equipment room.  Who's up for some winter fun?



*As a little note, from the 12th until the end of the month it will be snowing! Nothing heavy but there will be a few inches of snow sticking to the ground.

Sounds like you've already got an upperhand on most of the current members in terms of battle skill, anyway.

What were they when they were alive?

Not my place to tell. I know some of their stories, but considering that we've all been through different sorts of things, I'm not going to go spilling everything.

[ She pauses though, then adds. ]

Personally, I was a student.

[She tilts her head.]

So you went to a school for most of your life? That sounds...strange.

[tenminutes]

I graduated high school a little bit before I ended up dead. I even went to cram school and everything but it didn't matter much in the end. Obviously why I'm here has nothing to do with that.

There are different kinds of schools? Why?

[tenminutes]

It's just different levels. Grade school, high school, cram school, university. Cram school's optional, of course, but it's extra school to help you study for exams. The higher you place on exams, the better university you can get into and you'll get a better job once you graduate.

Huh. I don't think we had anything like that. Skaa had jobs as young as they could to get food tokens to eat. Nobility were...nobility.

[tenminutes]

We've just got Emperor Akihito and politicians or celebrities if you want to count anyone as "nobility," really. I'm guessing the nobility are actually bad where you're from though?

They were...different. They held balls while the Skaa starved, and if a Skaa was too loud they just killed them. If a nobleman went to a Skaa brothel, they killed the woman. So there wouldn't be any mix breeds. Didn't work all the time; sometimes the woman got out alive.

[That's why she's alive after all; the soldier sent to kill her mother didn't kill her.]

I'm not sure what a Skaa is, but that sounds pretty bad. Sorry.

Skaa are a group of people. I'm half-Skaa.

[She pauses, remembering.]

We put a stop to most of it in Luthadel - the capital - after I killed the Lord Ruler. That was a couple years ago for me when I died.

[tenminutes]

At the very least, you could be half-frog here and it wouldn't be important to me.

[ Yuri smiles and holds out a hand, to shake. She's a little odd sometimes. ]

Do you have a name?

[Really? Half-frog? Vin blinks and looks at the hand, before shaking it.]

Yes. I'm Vin. Well, Vin Venture now. [Having a last name is strange...]

Do you? [That'd be kinda strange, not having a name.]

Yuri. You might here Yurippe too, depending on who you talk to. I'm fine with either.

[She pauses.]

Who was the other person you met from my world? You said he was...derpy looking with brown hair. He might be part of my old crew. [Or her husband.]

[tenminutes]

I think it was... Ellen? No, Elend.

[preservation]

[Vin turns paler than before, hands clenching.]

Elend? You're sure?

[tenminutes]

That's what he said after I called him Mr. Moonless.

[ She notices the subtle differences in body language though. Yuri's eyes flicker across her body for a moment, but don't say anything else. ]

Elend was still alive when I died though. He nearly died, but that was a while ago. He...healed.

[Did Ruin do that? Elend...That means they'll see each other again here, but she failed to stop Ruin and protect him.]

[tenminutes]

You do know him then. I know it's not the happiest thing to hear, but sometimes even when people get past everything bad, there's still not a happy ending waiting for them.

[She shakes her head.]

He probably died because of what happened after I did. Because of Ruin.

[tenminutes]

You still want to try to go after him? [ To make sure. If it was a rescue attempt she was planning when she said she wanted to go after Ruin before, then that might be a problem. ]

Yes. If he killed Elend, he probably killed everyone else too.

[Literally. They were less than an hour away from everything dying when she did.]

Then revenge is basically the only thing left.
