WHERE: All around! Mostly at the school, since it is a school festival!

No matter where it is you woke up, if it's near buildings the sounds of merriment are all around. The shouts of people rooting for the winner of a game, students trying to pull in attention for their booths, adults laughing as they trip over themselves during a sport or someone screaming at the haunted house...

It's then that you realize you're at some kind of festival, everyone's invited, and no one seems to be bothering with money.

Then the realization that you're not even in your clothes. What the hell is this outfit? A school uniform? A janitor? A store clerk? Waitress?

No, no, the bigger question is deinitely "What the hell is going on and where am I?" With nothing but forest and mountains visible in the distance, it's kind of--

I'm guessing somewhere in your memory there are a whole lot of traumatic events right? Normally I've never seen anyone but humans here but-- things were a lot different when I went to sleep yesterday. It's like everything changed overnight, people who I knew were here are gone, and now there are a bunch of newbies, a school festival, and all sorts of changes. But I'm pretty sure it should be the same basic rules or people who get into here: Something was wrong or unfair with what happened during your life and now you're stuck here, because you've got a will to live on, even after you died.

Also it's a school because pretty much all of the real people here were young enough to still be in or just out of school.

[His fins quiver a little at the mention of unfairness] Wwell I can sure say categorically that a lot a unfair things happened in my life. But is this a place wwhere I can make up for that? Or get revvenge, or...wwhat?

That's tough to say. There's no access to the world of the living, not that I know about at least, but... we can't die again. So if there were ever a time to get revenge, it'd be now. I'm personally aiming a little higher than a regular revenge plot though-- I want rebel.

Of course, if you want to just disappear and let your soul get reincarnated into whoever, go for it.

I was planning on it. As of today the group I had before isn't here anymore, so no one's the leader until there are other people to lead! Something weird happened and the whole world changed between me going to bed and waking up outside again.

Huh. [Weird] Wwell, I don't knoww wwhat happened, so that's another mystery to solvve, I suppose.

[The fins spread a bit as she looks at them] Yeah, though wwe call it a sea troll, not wwater. [ Raises hand in front of her. ] Former member of the upper class too. We're all the same here, no matter what you were before, unless you're better at something. Being rich or high-class or whatever doesn't mean anything.

[Damnit, no. He can't handle a whole other group of people who don't respect him and basically think he's a loser despite the fact that everything he's ever known has taught him that he deserves to be submitted to]

Wwell, howw about this, then? Howw about the fact that as royalty of a wwarlike an vviolent race, I'vve spent my wwhole life learnin' howw to lead? I'vve studied the tactics of wwar an the great leaders a my race, goin' back millennia. Not to mention my actual prowwess at fightin' angels, wwhich I already mentioned, wwhich is no small thing. Exactly! A lot of people do that though, that's just what I meant. Also that I'm not going to kiss your ass. I've got my own set of skills personally, even if I was born into a pretty wealthy family. We weren't involved in any wars, so they're different from your skills though.

I'll do it whether people follow or not. If someone wants in, that's by their choice. On the other hand, if someone gets in my way I won't hesitate to take them out. There aren't any guns or anything, but there are knives in the cafeteria and I'm pretty good with them. Or the archery club's bow and arrows, maybe I should give that a shot!

No guns? [He looks disappointed and grimaces. What kind of a place has no weapons?] Wwell, a swword wwouldn't be bad. You don't havve a single long-barrelled rifle here?

Well-- there was one guy who had them, but I didn't get a chance to figure out how. I can't find him anymore. I told you, thinks are way different than they were yesterday. If I can figure out how to get guns, I'll get me a pair of Beretta 92 pistols and.. A Browning BT99 for you.

[The brands mean nothing to him, but he nods, sighing] Wwhat I wwouldn't givve to havve Ahab's Crosshairs back. Most powwerful hand held laser cannon anyone's evver seen. I could take out a sky wwhale at a hundred feet wwith pinpoint accuracy.
