It was Halloween, otherwise known as Hallow's Eve. And the stage was set for an amazing party, otherwise known as the extravaganza of the year. Haruhi had it all planned out: there were booths decorated in orange and black, balloons that looked like pumpkins, ghosts, and witches, games and prizes galore, live music, and so much more.

Sure, people may have 'died', but you know what they say: the show must go on! And go on, it shall. In front of the doors to the auditorium is an orange carpet and a rope blocking the entrance.

So, come on, relax, and have some fun!

[ It doesn't smell like blood or alcohol...

She takes an experimental sip, swirling it around in her mouth before swallowing. Just your average fake-fruit flavored sugar water. ]

It's fine. Don't drink too much of it, though.

[Sounds right up Mary's alley. Grabbing a cup, Mary scoops out some punch for herself and takes a big gulp. She's never tried punch before, so the taste wasn't quite what she was expecting, but it tastes okay to her all the same.]

I'll try not to! [While Mary sips on her drink she takes the time to look at Kirigiri's snazzy hat. Sadly any references or shout-outs the hat might carry in regards to detectives or anything else like that pass completely by her.] What did you come as? You're just wearing a hat...

[You're looking a little under dressed roomie, especially compared to Mary and the other party-goers.]

[ She smiles, just a little at that. ]

A famous detective supposedly wore a hat like this one.

They did? [...] Oh, so you're a detective, that's what you came as!

[At that, understanding suddenly dawns on Mary. She knows all about detectives and what they do from her time with Yuri at the sleepover she held.]

Does that mean you dress up in lots of different disguises, and follow people around, and use a, uhm... A mag-nee-fy-ing glass?

...Not just any people, bad people.

Detectives apprehend those who commit crimes.

[crayoned]

But they don't have to be bad, right? And you still get to dress up and look for lots of clues, being a detective is lots of fun!

[The person she was going to follow around with Yuri wasn't bad after all. They just had different coloured eyes and neither of them knew why, so an investigation was in order!]

Sometimes surveillance has to be done to prove a person's innocence...

[ That's sort of a yes. ]

And sometimes, the surveil- Surv- Uhm... The surveying goes on for a really long time, so you give up and go trade in some meal tickets at the dining hall for something tasty to eat.

[Mary would make the best detective.]
