Day 1: School Festival

WHAT: School Festival Day 1
WHEN: 9/28/3013. Morning through evening.
WHERE: All around! Mostly at the school, since it is a school festival!
WARNINGS: Should be PG-13 for language and possibly violence because there's always someone. But should mostly be fun & fluffy. Let me know if anything changes.

POP POP!

The crisp crackle of confetti cannons going off signals the start of the school festival around 10am! The whole school has been preparing for the month beforehand and an excited vibe seems to be fluttering through the whole afterlife! There are games, cafes, performances-- all sorts of things! There's definitely got to be something that'll tickle your fancy. There are no classes today, the dining hall is closed, and it looks like there's just a huge, fantastic festival going on.

For being dead, it sure seems lively!

[ Even though there might not have been much advertising, that's not going to stop Haruhi from performing. Though she's definitely pissed off at how little work was put into it. Well, at least she knows that four other people (or perhaps five) are coming, having being coerced into being the backup dancers for the Hare Hare Yukai.

Once the performance starts, though, the songs will go in a very simple order: Sono Hi Sora wa Kitto Aoi, When I Was In Love, Parallel Days, and last but not least, the Hare Hare Yukai. ]

[Male backup dancer #1, reporting for duty!]

[Hinata shows up in his SSS uniform midway through the concert, as his fine dancing skills aren't needed until the end. He tries to catch her between songs so he can ask something...]

Oi, should I change into something else?

It doesn't matter.

[ Even though Haruhi does plan on changing into another outfit later, seeing as she's currently wearing her usual in-concert bunny outfit. ]

[She seems all done up in costume, so he figured he'd ask... And speaking of her costume, he glances down at it, lingering a little too long on her legs before making himself look away. It wasn't every day he saw a cute girl in a bunny outfit, after all.]

...So my SSS uniform is fine?

Yeah, that's totally fine. I plan on changing into it for that part since I can't really dance the Hare Hare Yukai in heels.

What? No way. I'll bet you could dance in those.

[Let's be honest here, he just wants to see her dancing in a skimpy outfit. He's also never worn high heels in his life, so he grossly misunderstands what it takes to balance in them.]

W-what!? [Needless to say, he wasn't expecting that.] They wouldn't fit me, haha! See?

[He holds his foot next to hers, comparing their difference in shoe size. He assumes that's all she means...]

I have extra outfits on the coat hanger. Besides, if these shoes didn't fit you, that makes you the evil stepsister, doesn't it~?

[Does he really have to say anything else?]

[ Guess who finally emerged after a solid month of being a complete and total recluse? This guy. He doesn't look well. Like he hasn't been eating much, and that his hair has grown out quite a bit. He's... well... he's not feeling well.

But at least he came to hear Haruhi sing, right? He's going to be supportive of his friend, because, well, she's been nothing if not nice to him since he got here. ]

[ By the end of the last song, Haruhi jumps off of the stage, gives a victory sign and soon enough goes to greet her fans. And then she notices a familiar face. ]

Oh, hey! Long time no see!

Yeah... hey.

[ One of his hands was stuffed in his pocket. He lets out a heavy sigh. Even by his standards, this probably looks even more pathetic than usual. ]

That was... umm... nice. The song I mean.

I wrote and composed them myself. ... Did your girlfriend disappear or something?

[ Because she's noticed that, well. She's not here. :T ]

[ Yukki's lip quivers, and he has to look away. ]

... she was my wife, now.

I'm sorry for your loss.

It's the third time I lost her, if you count the first time she died... I guess I should just be used to it by now. I guess we really weren't meant to be together after all.

Maybe if you pass on you'll reincarnate and see her again. The god of this world just hates people, that's all.

This world... really is hell, isn't it?

[ Kohaku's had performances with absolutely no audience before, so he can't say he has expectations. Honestly, weird almost guerilla concerts for people who literally did not care to listen had never been an exception in his lifetime.

The weirdness in this is more the type of music and performance (Haruhi's choice of clothes managed to top even Lucille's weirdness), but in the end he's a professional about music and during the concert there is absolutely no telling he may be dissatisfied with anything. It feels good to have any concert at all though. When he plays, even though it's pop rock songs, he can feel himself vanish into the music and it's the absolute best feeling.
The entire concert is handled by him with surprising professionalism. If there's something he takes seriously, it's things like this. ]

[ Thankfully, the music's good and sure, Haruhi may have chosen the bunny outfit for 3/4ths of the music, but after everything's done and over with, Haruhi sighs in relief. It's all good now, and there's nothing to worry about. ]

Aah, that was such a good performance, don't you think~?

Hmpf, it wasn't bad that's for sure.

[ Kohaku is not exactly the type to make entirely positive comments about something except if he has to defend it, so this is as good as his comments usually get. He doesn't think the performance was exactly perfect, but music-wise he doesn't think they need to be ashamed. It's better than what he expected. Show-wise, he prefers not to think about it. ]

Well, that's only natural since I was totally perfect~! My lyrics and my songs are the best, of course. Though I can't say the same about their dancing.

[ She just gets an eyeroll at her conceitedness about her music. ]

None of these guys have ever really danced before, have they? Not that I'd be a damn dancer either, but you can tell by the rhythm... or lack thereof, really.

Well, Kyon should know the dance, but then again, he has amnesia. I thought that maybe muscle memory would've done the trick, too.
