SUMMARY: Winter fun all around

12th: Look Dave, IT'S SNOWINGGGGGGGGG!!! Students and other NPCs are beginning to hang Christmas lights all around the town and school too. Everything looks pretty at night, even the gardens in the town and school.

13th: Today in home economics class: its time to start baking some homemade cookies and making peppermint hot chocolate.

14th: Kendo club starts today in the dojo!! Some posters have been hung up around the school for a while. Anyone want to go in and try it out or maybe even join??

15th: Hey--look up! Yeah, it's exactly what you see. Mistletoe has been put up under almost every doorway! What now.

16th: A lot of the NPCs are heading up to the mountains today. Why? For skiing and snowboarding of course! Skis, snowboards and even sleds are in the gym's equipment room.  Who's up for some winter fun?



*As a little note, from the 12th until the end of the month it will be snowing! Nothing heavy but there will be a few inches of snow sticking to the ground.

Same things apply as last time! If you'd like to do something outside of the activities we've provided feel free to do so! Remember that there is a basketball team now so practices can be set up on whatever days you all choose.

[ It was a massive lack of luck that Yuri happened to be trying to exit through that doorway, but now that there's someone's in the way, Yuri is avoiding the crap out of it. ]

It's a parasite that in some cultures means if you're standing underneath it with someone else, you have to kiss.

[She tilts her head, studying first the mistletoe and then the other girl.]

Why would standing under a parasite mean you have to kiss?

[She doesn't seem to realize that she is standing under it and if anyone had come closer then they might have tried to kiss her.]

I don't know, it's supposed to be a romantic Christmas charm or something.

[She's never heard of 'Christmas' either. Maybe she should see what she can find in books here. But first--]

What's Christmas?

[tenminutes]

It's a Western religious holiday.

[preservation]

[That means that there might be some other religions that never existed on her world - or Sazed just didn't mention Christmas and whatever religion it belongs to.]

How many religions still exist where you're from? [There was only the Lord Ruler's religion, the Church of the Survivor - but Kelsier is dead, he didn't keep surviving -, and the other two hundred some religions that Sazed had memorized everything about. Though only the first two were really practiced.]

[tenminutes]

A lot. I don't even know all of them, I'm sure, but even just in Japan there are a bunch of different ones. Religion is all just things that people made up anyway, so the individual ones aren't as important here.

Oh. [Hm...] I don't think they've really started making things up about Kelsier yet, apart from giving him more titles...

[And calling her his heir.

Right, she's dead here...Kell and some of the others might be here too.]

Have you met anyone [else] who thinks the blue sky and green plants are strange? [Maybe she's met the kid who had plastic everything, but maybe she's also met someone else from Vin's world.]

[tenminutes]

Yeah! There are a couple of people I talked to who seemed shocked about green plants and snow even existing, then there's Once-ler who always seems kind of pissed at himself about that kind of stuff.

Even snow? [She's seen snow before, just not green plants and the blue sky...Which means at least some of them are from a world more like the boy who talked about plastic than hers. She'd hoped - sorta - that there'd be at least someone else from the Crew here. Enough of them are dead.]

Is Once-ler a name?

[tenminutes]

Yeah. I'm guessing you guys are from the future compared to the year I died in, we still had trees and everything. Though not quite as many as here.

[ She looks amused. ]

That's what I thought too. His name is actually "The Once-ler" but he doesn't like being called "The" so it's just "Once-ler."

Did your world have the...[What is the bright glowy thingy in the sky at night called anyway? She's pretty sure they didn't have one, from what she could see through the mists.] night sun? What do you call it, the bright thing in the sky at night?

[She really hadn't spent any time staring at the sky at night, but that thing is rather noticeable. She smiles.] The Once-ler sounds sillier than Once-ler.

My world has trees; they just don't look the same. They're different colors. The ash might have changed them over a thousand years. [Or it was because of the power at the Well. But no need to bring Preservation and Ruin into the conversation.]

[tenminutes]

The moon, yeah. It waxes and wanes and everything. Though this one's a lot less consistent since there's no real sense of time here. There didn't used to be anyway, the snow's pretty new here.

[ Ash.. that sounds a little familiar. ]

Everything's black right? And only rich people have clean stuff? [ She heard that story already. ]

[preservation]

[The moon...] We didn't have a moon. At least, Spook and I didn't see one through the mists.

[She blinks.]

Yes. Since the ash is black and falls everywhere. [She tilts her head.]

Who told you about it? [Was it one of the Crew? Clubs? Dox? Kelsier? Or just someone else who died. Please say it's not Elend.]

[tenminutes]

This brown-haired guy with kind of a derpy face. My condolences if you know him.

[preservation]

[Brown hair? That could be almost any of them...]

Derpy?

[tenminutes]

[ Yuri decides to go with a different description for him, then.. ]

He looked sort of American, but since you guys are going on about practically a different world, I'd guess America isn't even a place anymore.

[preservation]

[And she guesses correctly.]

America? [Yuri, they don't have a moon. Why would they have America?]

Is that a city?

[tenminutes]

It's a continent. Are you from a different planet altogether or what?

[preservation]

What's a continent?

[That should answer her question.]

We don't have a moon and we don't have green plants or the blue sky. [Though the last two were because of the Lord Ruler...]

I think if we had a moon it could just be the Lord Ruler changed things, but we don't.

[tenminutes]

You know, giant land mass separated from the other land masses but too big to just be an island.

[ Yuri looks thoughtful, then makes her decision. ] So you're an alien, then.

[preservation]

[But she doesn't know.]

So they're surrounded by water? [She's never actually seen the ocean...]

If an alien is someone from a different world.

[tenminutes]

Earth's surface is like 71% water, give or take. I think that's just the oceans, I'm not sure how much of that is rivers and lakes.

[ Yuri takes a moment to think about it. ]

A different world would be an alien, I guess. Technically anyone from another country or planet is an alien, so you'd be an extra-extra alien. As it stands, we're all in the same place now so I guess that's the only thing that matters.

So there's a lot less land than water. Are there a lot of continents?

[She nods.]

Extra-extra alien or not, we're all here. Something is probably the same. [Whether it's the 'true' religion or something else - being human, for example.]
