WHERE: All around! Mostly at the school, since it is a school festival!

No matter where it is you woke up, if it's near buildings the sounds of merriment are all around. The shouts of people rooting for the winner of a game, students trying to pull in attention for their booths, adults laughing as they trip over themselves during a sport or someone screaming at the haunted house...

It's then that you realize you're at some kind of festival, everyone's invited, and no one seems to be bothering with money.

Then the realization that you're not even in your clothes. What the hell is this outfit? A school uniform? A janitor? A store clerk? Waitress?

No, no, the bigger question is deinitely "What the hell is going on and where am I?" With nothing but forest and mountains visible in the distance, it's kind of--

The adults don't get an afterlife, they just have to deal with whatever it was they did and get reincarnated accordingly. So if you were a crappy person, your soul ends up as a sea snail!

You do look kind of scrawny, but you're definitely older than you should be. If you don't want to be a snail, then don't go around doing things normally like participating in school activities. Do you have a key to a dorm room or are they making you stay outside? Check your pockets.

I spent most of my life alone and I'm sick of it, so you'll just have to deal with it. What's your name? [ While she examines this key. Really, what the fuck is this for? She's never seen anything like it.

It's better if I'm alone. What do you care what my name is? [ plus he already said it. if she wasn't listening that's her fault. He's looking at the key then taking the bass she stole, idly tuning it ] So where's that go? You're the expert on being dead, I'm guessing.

[ Like hell if that sounds like a real name to her. ] No idea. I'm dead too, I've just been here longer than... most people today, actually. Did all of you just die in a giant tragedy or something?

I'm Yuri and if you don't tell me your name I'm going to come up with something.

[ You're dead now too, loser. ]

[ Mother made it up. Sob. ] If everyone else did, I know nothing about it.

[ slouches and gives her a dull look ]

I don't know, Jared Once-ler's got kind of a nice ring to it...

I told you, you look like a Jared. You called yourself "Mister Once-ler" anyway right? That implies it's your last name.

The Once-ler. It's not a Jared Once- ...You know what I don't even care. Fine.

Why not? It's your first name. [ She pauses. ] Come on, we need to get to the roof. [ This key doesn't match anything in the school, which can only mean they need to see what the hell is there now that could possibly have that kind of key. ]

I know but don't call me that. [ He looks around then back at her. He should go be alone like he's supposed to. Why is she bothering with him?

If she starts heading to the roof he'll follow. ]

[tenminutes]

[ She'll do him one more on top of heading that way, she's getting behind him and placing both hands on his back to push him. ]

Once-ler then?

[thneed]

Once-ler. [ Looking over his shoulder at him while he walks ahead ] What are you-? Would you stop pushing me? I'm going.

[tenminutes]

You seem like the kind of guy who needs a push in the right direction.

[ Mostly because you've been arguing this whole time and the way Yuri picks is definitely the right direction. ]

[ He's taking that to mean a bit more than she probably did. He always goes in the wrong direction, doesn't he? He even went in the wrong direction in his sleep in a river.

He made a face and stepped a bit ahead of her so she'd stop ]
